Awesome wine bar, hidden away from plain sight. Great ambiance and solid wine list. I'll definitely be coming back here.

What Andrew said. A++, points for simplicity, execution, quality and, perhaps most notably, ambiance. People enjoyed eating *and* working there, and the owner was funny and respectful.

Oh, and the sandwiches will blow your mind.

The Lobster Club (Maine lobster meat, ginger-mango mayo, lettuce, tomato and applewood smoked bacon) has been very heavily recommended. That's on their 2010 Dine About Town menu... think I'll have to make a point of checking them out.

Been here twice and was impressed both times. It's been a while since my last visit... probably time to fix that!

Great restaurant in downtown Salida, right on the bank of the Arkansas River. The grilled chipotle chicken tacos were excellent. I'd love to stop by this place during the summer to just hang out on their patio next to the river.

Fast food made with all natural ingredients, almost all grown in the farm behind the restaurant.

I love Il' Pete's and this place is close to my parent's. Only get's 4 stars because it's not in Boulder.

No sign, run down building. Looks like it has amazing food – the filet mignon steak sandwiches that have been marinated overnight in homemade garlic oil definitely caught my eye.

Fairly standard diner with higher than average quality ingredients.

Except for coffee. Their coffee sucked.

Cafe + bike repair shop. Cool place with an awesome (but tiny) patio. They serve Ritual coffee done right, and also sell beer, wine and some tasty looking sandwiches. Free wifi outside of rush hour. Apparently they also have live music sometimes as well.

    I'll probably frequent this place.

This place lives up to its reputation. It's in a basement and has no sign. Walk in and see only a couple of pictures on the wall, a handful of tables and the bar. The husband behind the bar demands to know how many are in your party the second you walk in. Tell him and, if it's not too many (I was there by myself, so it wasn't), he tells you how long it'll take before you're served. If you're OK with the wait (I was), you'll be seated. They're polite ... They're polite yet direct.

I sat at the bar and ordered a masu of Kurosawa sake when the wife came around, mostly because I recognized the bottle on their counter. Turns out the chef is from Yachiho, the village where Kurosawa is distilled, so that served as a good ice breaker. Wanting to see what they can offer, I ordered their "chef's choice" sashimi. It's a menu item, so I didn't ask for omakase... I might try that next time and see if he gets more inventive.

40 minutes later, after some spartan chit-chat with the chef, my plate is revealed. The fish wasn't exotic – toro, otoro, sake, hotategai, aji, and a fish very similar to aji whose name I didn't catch – but the cuts were quite good. I'd say the scallop was the best I've ever had, period. All in all, it's what I'd expect from a chef who is approaching a new customer. Solid but not adventurous.

While I'm sampling the fish, the chef turns all of his attention to me. I express my appreciation for the otoro cuts and for the marvelous scallop and, since I know their restaurant is one of the oldest in Cole Valley, ask about the shop's history. This leads us down a delightful path, where I'm regaled in their VIP visits – Yo-Yo Ma makes at least one trip every time he visits SF and, as is par for many SF restaurants, a couple billionaires are return customers. More importantly, I hear about the customers behind me. They're regulars who lived in SF for 6 or 7 years before moving to Japan for 3. Now they're back in SF and are once again hitting their favorite sushi restaurant. I love to see both such devoted customers and that the husband and wife are devoted enough *to* their customers that they know what's happening to them outside of the restaurant.

After I finished my plate, I was surprised with two more dishes. The first was some more mackerel and some salmon. That was followed by some more of the otoro and outstanding scallop.

Yes, you can call them the "sushi nazis" (many on Yelp do) and, yes, they are somewhat deserving deserve of that label. Those who approach Hama-Ko as a sushi restaurant will have a mediocre experience and feel slighted. One the other hand, those who approach Hama-Ko as a home and kitchen, respect the husband and wife and are grateful for their hospitality, will have an outstanding experience and will be treated with the utmost respect in return.

I will be back. While the fish wasn't the best I've ever had, I can only respect Hama-Ko and admire their love for their craft. Also, I fully expect that return visits will only be better – the group behind me who have been return customers for ages and are friends with the husband and wife had an *outstanding* meal with uni, monk fish liver and other delectables that aren't often showered upon new customers. I can't wait to taste the wonderful meals I might receive after they know I'm up for anything.

Good burgers, but I wasn't blown away. Of course, they aren't a "blow you away" kind of burger joint – they're the "good ole' American burger" kind of burger joint and are outstanding in that regard.

Cafe Reverie has climbed to the top of my local haunts. I'm here at least once a weekend. Last weekend my sandwich order was accidentally lost; they were very apologetic when I went to see what was up. For the rest of the afternoon, glasses of wine were on the house.

Nice little spot and the closest "Blue Bottle Coffee" location from my apartment. I grabbed some coffee and food there last weekend and was satisfied with both. Will likely return, looks like it could be a good "get shit done" cafe.

Awesome little breakfast diner. The line can suck but it's worth it. Sitting at the bar is a blast, since you can watch the cooks work their skills. Quite tasty.
