Unlike the butchers at Schaub's, who looked at me like I was crazy, when I walked in and said I wanted 10+ pounds of mollejas de res (beef sweetbreads), the butcher at Chavez Super looked at me like I was an interesting challenge. He quickly returned with the goods (frozen, not fresh... nobody's perfect), and I was out the door within a couple of minutes, all for half the price it would have cost at Schaub's.

The meat selection here is insane. Not only do they have the usual suspects: tripe, tounge, liver, heart, kidney, etc. They ...
