(1/2/10) While traveling between Crestone and Denver, my wife, daughter and I stopped in to Boathouse Cantina about 5:30 for dinner. They were out of my first choice and had to check on the second. I found the chili I had ordered to be both substandard and insufficient. So, I sent it back to the kitchen and choose not to reorder. It was not until I requested to have the chili removed from the bill that the owner approached our table. His interrogative approach was off-putting. However, I answered his questions about the dish. He stated that my responses were insufficient and became both verbally abusive and physically threatening, as he even offered to settle the matter outside.
It is unfortunate, in a time when many restaurants are closing, that Boathouse Cantina offers neither good food nor a safe warm atmosphere. But if you do choose to dine there, don't order the chili.
